Summer Research Access

Hello Students!  As a reminder, during the summer sessions student research access will change.  The following is a chart explaining access:

Database
Non-Profit
Profit
(law firm, government, corporation)
Research Assistants (RAs) and Students Enrolled in Summer Classes
Bloomberg
Yes
Yes
Yes
Fastcase

LexisAdvance (only)

Westlaw and WestlawNext

Yes

All students will retain their access to Bloomberg and to Fastcase through the law school for the summer.  This access can be used while working for a non-profit organization, working for a profit organization, serving as RAs, or researching for summer classes. This year, LexisNexis is offering complete access to LexisAdvance over the summer for students as well.  Students can use their LexisAdvance accounts to research for any of the above purposes during the summer.

However, Westlaw and WestlawNext continue their summer blackouts for students, unless they are serving as RAs for the summer or they are enrolled in summer classes at the law school.  Please remember, if you are a RA and/or enrolled in summer classes and you work for either a non-profit or profit organization over the summer, you cannot use your Westlaw access for work purposes.  Westlaw and WestlawNext use is limited to research regarding the RA position and class work only.

Happy researching!
