Study Suggestions

If one of your New Year's Resolutions is to improve your academic performance, we have some suggestions!

1) Do all assigned readings.

2) Review what you learned in the previous class. This will both prepare you for class and simultaneously improve your long-term memory of what you have learned.

3) Attend class, take notes, and participate!

4) Review what you learned after class.

5) Craft your own outline. Don't copy from others! Your outline should reflect what you have learned.

6) Do practice problems and review feedback that you get. It is better to make mistakes in practice than on an actual exam!

7) Don't be afraid to ask for help. Your professors want to see you succeed! Also look to TAs, if your class has them. Teaching Assistants, or TAs, are often students who excelled in the class. They may offer office hours and/or review sessions. Don't wait until the last minute to ask about complex concepts or vocabulary.

Last but not least, come study in the Library! We have chairs, tables, carrels, study rooms, etc. You may reserve a carrel or study room on our website. Additionally, we offer study aids for different subjects.
